The Big Lion

Ano passado fiz um leão para uma festinha com o tema safari. Este ano, uma cliente, me pediu  para fazer o mesmo leão, só que de maior tamanho do que ela tinha visto aqui no meu blog. Este leão seria para decorar as mesas da festinha.

O resultado foi um lindo leão de 10 cm. de altura. No entanto ela ainda o achou pequeno e me perguntou se este poderia ser maior. Um verdadeiro desafio. Esta técnica é para fazer miniaturas utilizando bobinas de quilling que suportam sem se abrir até um certo tamanho.

Se utilizadas em tamanhos grandes, as bobinas tendem a se abrir, descaracterizando o trabalho, que em sua essência, é uma miniatura.

Last year I made a lion miniature for a safari themed party. This year, a client asked me to make the same lion, but bigger than the one she had seen, here, on my blog. This lion would be to decorate the tables at the party.

The result was a cute lion 4" tall. Albeit the bigger size, she found it small and asked me if it could be even taller. A real challenge. The technique used to make these miniatures uses small paper coils that work fine up to a certain size (without deforming).

If used in larger sizes,the coils tend to get opened, loosing the characteristics of the piece, which in its essence is a miniature.
